Keeping up
with the times

We only use the most cutting-edge technologies of the sector, from the latest CAT tools to translations directly to CMS. We can handle many different formats – including InDesign, xml and PDF -, as well as typesetting in complex environments. Thanks to the synergy between people and tools, we ensure consistency and optimization of costs and time.

Technical Translations

Technical translations are aimed at communicating complex and specialist information to individuals with varying degrees of expertise. The translated document must be clear and understandable to all recipients.

Technical translations may be required for a variety of fields, from industrial, mechanical, and engineering to scientific, medical, financial, IT, and many others. From operating and maintenance instructions for a machine to a spare parts catalogue, a technical translation can be needed for a wide range of documents and produced in a variety of formats.

What are the challenges of a technical translation?

Terminology

In technical documentation, the terminology - or the vocabulary used - must be accurate and industry-specific. Our translators invest heavily in industry terminology research and documentation, compiling glossaries that we then share with our customers, so that the most appropriate and correct translation can be chosen together for each term.

Consistency and uniformity

Also due to its concise and repetitive nature, in a technical document consistency is a must. Similar sentences, such as lists of maintenance activities, must all be translated in the same way. The name of individual mechanical components must also always be translated using the same terms, avoiding synonyms and the likes.

Clarity

The style, if we can speak of style, must be clear, concise, direct, unambiguous. A good technical translator uses a syntax that promotes linearity in the translation, making it easier to read. Since we are often talking about instructions, the translator must put the reader in a position to act as quickly as possible, considering the fact that time might be at stake.

In more than 30 years of experience, we have established trusting and fruitful relationships with competent, careful, reliable and professional translators.
