SERVICES
In addition to the translation itself, we can support you with a range of complementary solutions that can make your content complete and effective in every respect.
OUR ADDED VALUE
Our mission is to provide you with all the support you need to achieve all your goals.
Terminology management is a service that is complementary to the translation and extremely useful for any project. It consists of creating customized glossaries and translation memories for each customer. These tools support the translation process and ensure that all the contents translated for a specific customer have a consistent terminology and style.
We create glossaries from scratch for our customers, or from pre-existing documents. We regularly discuss the choice of critical terms in the source language and the corresponding translations that the customer wishes to use in the target language, increasing the value of the glossary project after project.
A translation memory is both an invaluable knowledge base and an investment for the future.
All the translations carried out for a specific customer are saved in the Translation Memory (TM) in the form of text segments, which are automatically suggested to the translator when translating new content. This means that text fragments and individual terms that have already been translated do not have to be translated again. The result is better terminology consistency, greater translator efficiency, but also reduced costs for the end customer.
The choice of how to translate a text segment always remains with the translator. The software does not replace human activity, but offers assistance through its integrated memory and search functions. Therefore, the result always depends on the quality work carried out by our specialised translators.
DTP, short for desktop publishing, is the professional activity of adapting and laying out the text and graphic elements of publications.
What layout issues can arise with a translation?
Language length
When translating into certain languages, for example German or Russian, the content can stretch by up to 30%, exceeding the available footprint. On the other hand, with logographic languages such as Chinese or Japanese, the text can be significantly shorter than the original, leaving a lot of empty space. It is, therefore, clear that DTP is an indispensable step for a language product intended for publication.
Different orientation of the text
Some languages, including Arabic, are written from right to left; others, such as Japanese, from top to bottom. Our team of experienced graphic designers uses dedicated software that supports the directionality of translated content in these unique languages.
Font compatibility
A specific font may not be compatible with all alphabet types. For example, a font supported by the Latin alphabet may not be supported by the Cyrillic alphabet. In such cases, we carry out all the necessary tests to identify and install a font compatible with the target language.
Handling images with text
Some images, graphics or tables may contain text that cannot be edited but still needs to be localised. Our DTP specialists handle images in any format and deliver them fully translated to the customer.
Why should you rely on us for your DTP projects?
First, entrusting a translation and typesetting project to a single supplier saves time and money.
Second, it guarantees better quality. During each stage, our DTP experts have the opportunity to work four-handedly with our translators, who:
The final result is a product ready for publication.
The concept of alignment is closely related to the creation of a Translation Memory (TM). A TM is populated automatically while translating when using CAT tools. However, it is also possible to add pre-existing translations. The alignment process consists of segmenting the source and target text, matching the segments in the two languages, and inserting these matched segments into the memory. All this offers several advantages to the customer: first, it saves money and time because previously translated material will not need to be translated again from scratch; second, it increases the guarantee of terminology consistency. At Technolab Communication, we can offer this service for all digital formats and in all languages.
OTHER SERVICES
In addition to our core language services, we support you with a range of highly specialised complementary solutions.
Working with us, you will have an all-round competent and knowledgeable partner at your side.
Our certified translations are carried out in strict compliance with UNI EN ISO 17100:2017, an international quality standard specifically drafted for the translation industry. The standard regulates every single aspect of the translation process. Particular importance is given to human and technological resources, handling of the individual translation process steps, a constant and positive relationship with the customer, as well as data protection and confidentiality.
The UNI EN ISO 17100:2017 standard is an important quality mark for guaranteeing the satisfaction of customer requirements during the completion of translation projects, so much so that it is often one of the key criteria in quotation requests. This is especially true for highly regulated industries, although certified translation is a service that can be provided for all types of documents.
Machine Translation Post-Editing (MTPE) is the process of human revision of translations automatically generated by a translation engine.
The post-editor corrects and improves the translated texts, ensuring they are accurate compared to the source text.
The Full Post-Editing service aims to achieve a quality level comparable to a human translation. This process is successfully applied in technical translations or projects with large volumes of text to be translated in a short time.
Whether it is a monolingual review/proofreading, or the revision of a translation against a source document, we only use specialist native speaker reviewers, proofreaders and revisers who, in compliance with ISO 17100, must possess the same skills and qualifications as translators.
There are many critical aspects to which the proofreader or reviser must pay attention – the document must be correct from a formal point of view: spelling, grammar and syntax. It must be free of typing mistakes or punctuation and formatting errors. The terminology used must be consistent and appropriate for the specific context. Depending on the level of revision required by the customer, the reviser will also consider whether to intervene on the writing style itself.
When it comes to content that needs to trigger a feeling or a reaction, a simple translation is not enough. In the field of advertising or marketing, it will often be necessary to rework the message through transcreation – or cultural adaptation of content -, making sure that the translated result gives rise to the same feelings as the original. The term is a smart combination of the terms translation and creation, and indicates a process that goes beyond pure translation, much more akin to actual rewriting.
Copywriting is the activity of writing with the aim of capturing the target audience and bring it closer to your brand, both linguistically and culturally. Besides being a profession, writing is also a great passion of ours: through our words, we create stories that make readers dream and highlight the distinguishing aspects of your brand. At Technolab Communication, we are specialised in the tourism industry, and we can offer to our customers of this sector an excellent copywriting service. Our experience in the hotel industry allows us to create content in both Italian and German, using a tourism-specific vocabulary and exploiting our marketing knowledge, providing a professional product optimised for search engines.
The asseveration of a translated document is a public act performed by a mother tongue translator who swears the correctness of their translation before a competent authority (Court or Notary Public). Through asseveration, the translator signs a special document that certifies the correspondence and fidelity of the translation to the original document.
The asseveration of a translation is necessary for all those documents that must be submitted in a language other than the original to official bodies, entities, institutions or authorities. In this way, the translated document retains the same legal value as the original and can be used for the same purposes.
Voiceover is that activity of giving voice to communication. We provide professional recordings in all languages, made exclusively by native voices. Our customers rely on us because we can take care of the whole project, from the choice of the voice to the translation of the script. We guarantee quality and professionalism, confidentiality of the material shared, timely delivery in the required format. We record corporate videos, tutorials, subtitles, procedures, instructions, with full satisfaction of our customers.
Transcription allows to turn audio or video content into a text file. Making use of state-of-the-art equipment, our linguists create a professional, accurate and faithful transcription of your material. For our customers, we transcribe and translate multimedia content, from technical instructions and procedures to promotional and marketing videos.
Our experience has enabled us to acquire in-depth knowledge of a wide range of sectors, and to experience first-hand the daily challenges faced by our customers.
This is why our activity spans through several sectors.
